NetSafe - Learn Guide Protect

What is LGP?

LGP stands for Learn: Guide: Protect: It is a frame-work that supports schools in creating a culture of responsible, safe use of digital technologies. LGP promotes a student-centered approach to teaching and learning about cybersafety and digital citizenship across the curriculum.

Learn: Guide: Protect: (LGP) has three components or layers:

  1. 1. The skills students learn to keep themselves safe.
  2. 2. The guidance they need from educators to learn how to manage challenges.
  3. 3. The protective mechanisms schools can use to improve their immediate safety.

This site, www.mylgp.org.nz, acts as a central hub of content, suggestions and ideas for building an effective school based digital citizenship education programme.

You can read more about the LGP framework in this discussion document (pdf)

  • Say Hello to the newest bit on MyLGP.
  • Here at NetSafe we have been gaving a few conversations about Snapchat. There appears to be some confusion as to what it does, how it works and wether is poses any threat to young people.
